'My Beloved Book' Contest Poster

LOVE TO READ? Share Your Most Beloved Books and You Could Win!

Feb. 01, 2020 Michelle Gillis, Library Coordinator

The Elmworth Community Library is pleased to present the SECOND ANNUAL, ‘My Beloved Book’ Contest. In celebration of literacy, and recognition of the longstanding contributions of local author and retiring Library Society member Astrid Wenigerova-Noga, the library is asking local residents to share the details of their most BELOVED books for a chance to win one of three unique and valuable prize packages.

Entries can be submitted by individuals of all ages, from anywhere in the region, and a library membership is not required. In order to ensure the contest is accessible to EVERYONE, interested individuals can enter in-person at the library, via email, or by posting to the library’s Facebook page using the hashtag #MyBelovedBook. All entries must include the book’s title, author, a quick synopsis of the book itself (25 words), and another 25 words on WHY you love it.

Library Coodinator Michelle Gillis says individuals are invited to submit as many entries as they wish, for a few reasons. "We want to receive LOADS of entries, of course. We want the contest to generate excitement and encourage people to read and to visit the library, but we also have a bit of a hidden agenda – and that’s using the information we gather to help build our collection in a way that is meaningful and valuable to our patrons."

The contest will run February 1st - 29th, 2020. Three winners will be determined by random draw on Sunday, March 1, 2020 - and notified by phone or email as indicated on their ballot. Prize packages include a unique mix of indulgences for any rural reader, including cozy homemade afghans, hot beverage samplers, exquisitely crafted local art, and gift cards.

Elmworth Community Library is one of three rural libraries operated by the County of Grande Prairie. Located within a K-9 school in the Hamlet of Elmworth, the busy facility acts as a community hub, delivering a variety of programs, services and resources to its active and multi-generational community.
